Kentish Saffron is a small, recently established, family run business. We initially planted our saffron corms in 2018 and expanded our saffron crop during 2019. This year we achieved a successful harvest. We currently offer our pure, Kent grown saffron threads for sale through our online shop .
As farmers we are conscious of our duty to the environment and are committed to producing our high quality product whilst minimising impact upon the environment and ecology. We do not use chemical herbicides or pesticides on our saffron crop, when required, many hours are spent manually removing weeds and our crops are fed through spreading of organic fertilisers enabling us to produce the highest quality saffron.
During the short harvesting season our saffron is hand picked every morning. To ensure our saffron is of the finest quality, the saffron is separated, dried and packaged on the same day of picking. After harvest our Saffron is independently tested to international standards of ISO 3632. Every year our saffron has acheived Grade 1 classification and our most recent harvest in October 2022 achieved an outstanding 284 on colouring strength (crocin)
